Back to December

I find it funny, I find it kind of sad. All the things that haunt me are the best I ever had...

December's only about two months and a week away. Today I decided to allow myself a short trip down memory lane. It was frightening, but I truly believed that God was there holding my hand.. And I survived. But wow, so much has changed from 5 years back. We don't really see how much we've actually changed year on year, but when we look back a few years, it's easy to realise what a different person we've become

I got a crush on (Blue)

Current new favourite colour i.e. the colour I'm totally crushing over - powder blue. It first caught my eye during the Space Invasion Mega Sale 2 @ The Cathay. I saw an Ellysage top in the most adorable baby blue colour but alas, I decided not to purchase it in the end...

Then there was this baby blue clutch from Charles and Keith with a chic-looking bow adorning the top of the bag. Minimalistic madness - tres chic!

And yesterday, when I saw someone wearing a powder blue dress - I was sold. My new favourite colour, at long last!!

Is it strange that my favourite colour changes depending on the supposedly in colour during the season? I remember when I was totally loving all things mustard, maroon and mint green when they were the in colour that season. Does this mean that I have no opinion of my own and that I'm merely following the flow of the crowd? Maybe so...

But I like to think that fashion should be something that influences us, not defines us. I feel that we should incorporate the latest trends into a piece/style that we have created for ourselves. In the same way, I feel that colour preferences are also a way we can incorporate the latest trends into our own unique style.

Signing off, Jocelyn :)

Fashion Files: September 2014

Hola! It's been a long time since my last post and today I wish to share 3 trends I think just might be the next big thing this season! (Of course, there's always uncertainty with regards to trends - designers and influencers might be passionate about certain styles but this may not resound with the general public). This Fall, three trends look set to dominate the local fashion scene. They are: Marble Prints, Gladiator Boots and Vests.

1) Marble Prints

I think that marble is a really lovely print - it's really classy and sleek. This print first entered into the fashion scene in mid June but only in the past 2 months or so has it really taken off in terms of public affection. Marble first started appearing on spag tops and skorts, but is now slowly making its way into all types of apparel - pajama pants, tee-shirts, rompers and the like - and I must say, I'm really excited with regards to where the local fashion scene will take this print - a marble maxi next perhaps? The possibilities are endless!

Here's a look at some of my favourite pieces from local blogshops!

Marble Shorts from ShopOhSoFickle

Marble Tiered Sleeveless Top from  ShopOhSoFickle

Marble Print Romper from ShopSassyDream

Marni Marble Skorts from The Tinsel Rack

2) Gladiator Boots

Remember when gladiator sandals/wedges were the rage back in 2012?? Well they're back again - with a twist! Cyclical product life cycles, which are common for most fashion trends! I love how fierce yet classic this footwear is - it's a statement piece but not in an over the top way like killer Jeffrey Campbells or Adidas collaboration sneakers. Here are two intepretations of the trend I've seen so far - one on Shi Jia and the other on Eunice Annabel!

Shi Jia's boots are from ShopOhsofickle

Eunice Annabel's boots are from a Malaysian online Store called Fashion Blogger

 3) Vests

This trend...2 words: MAJOR LOVE. There are some trends I don't really like at first...like Varsity Jackets back in 2012. But they're some trends you look at and you just fall in love with instantaneously, and that pretty much describes how I feel about vests. Aesthetic-wise, they're pretty much perfect in every way possible... I do have 1 hesitation though: I get cold easily... Which explains my 30-strong collection of ling-sleeved outwear. Nevertheless, I still think I'm going to get a vest (provided I can lay my hands on one before they're all sold out!

Here's some of the blogshops that have stocked up the latest "in" piece!

Cobalt Blue Carlynn Vest from Flymetoparis

White Vedetta Vest from Love, Bonito

Olive Vest from YoungHungryFree

There are a couple few more trends I'd like to share and maybe I will over the next few days... until then, adios amigos!

Love, Jocelyn
