Make up

Let me first start off by expressing my love for make-up. I really do love make-up, not everything but I love my blushers, eyeshadows, lippies and bb creams. And while I do have an infatuation with it, I can live a day or two without it. But what bugs me is those people who hate on make-up. Whenever I hear people discussing the subject matter, I feel a little agitated.

"She's not pretty cos she wears make-up"; "You look so much nicer without make up". Such comments really make me infuriated. Don't get me wrong here - I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with natural beauty. In fact, natural beauty is perfectly acceptable for those who strongly believe in it. But I really can't stand people criticizing others juz cos they have a "painted face".

What's wrong with make-up? Nothing. What's wrong with natural beauty? Nothing as well. Why do people have to be so judgmental over such things? Isn't there more to a woman than her physical appearance?

I used to keep saying "Oh this girl is pretty", "This girl is not so pretty". But now, I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that each and every person is beautiful in her own way. But what makes her beauty even more outstanding is the beauty that radiates from within. That's what true beauty should be about - not whether or not she looks good with make-up.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall: Fall Trends 2013

As we watch the warm sunshine slowly fade into the cool autumn breeze, fashion undergoes a transition of it own, as it does each year. Besides warmer wear and darker colours, fall this year has clung on dearly to remaining bits of summertime.

1. Tartan

While plaid has always been a closet staple, this fall, tartan, the traditional Swedish version of plaid takes centrestage, all the way from vintage inspired flannel shirts to the effortlessly trendy and eye-catching skinny jeans.

2. Maroon

Also known as oxblood, it is the colour most commonly associated with fall. This year is no exception and this dark shade of red is the colour that dominates the window displays of high street stores.

3. Sheer Textured Knits

Last year, thick and wooly cable sweaters were the in thing but 2013 beckons the coming of sheer knits, especially textured ones like the beautiful green one below.

 Summertime Leftovers

4. The Flutter Top

Definitely a contender for the "it" top of the year, the Flutter Top is a very fresh and fun fusion of the spaghetti strap and chiffon, and has a flowiness to it that is simply irresistible.

5. Cut-in Tops

Another top vying for the place of the "in" top of the year is cut-in tops, which reminiscent of bodycon dresses that were popular in late 2011 and early 2012.

6. Eyelet

And last but not least we have the sexy eyelet, which works better in white since the holes are more visible. Furthermore, it gives off and ooze of innocence and purity, which is what this trend is supposed to bring out in us girls.

Goodbye Summer

As we bade farewell to the warm and scorching heat, we say goodbye to two trends we have come to love - monochrome and structured pieces.

There are a few trends however who seem to be stuck in the middle of it all. They are: Houndstooth, Gingham, Watercolour prints (i.e. Paddle Pop), Ombre as well as Grunge (i.e. Spikes and Studs). Until then, we'll just have to wait and see where the journey of fashion will take us

Open to Intepretation

I've finally found a picture that manages to somewhat convey my emotions.. Wondering what is out there, and what is in store for me.. However, whilst the picture has more of a nostalgic feel to it, my mood right now is angled towards misery and emptiness. I know not where to turn to anymore, but I'm not sure if I even have any courage left to lift a finger.

Innocent & Carefree

Isn't this picture simply adorable? Sometimes I wonder what it's like to be an animal. Would I still be plagued by the same worries? Or will those worries be altogether different?

How to Say Goodbye in Robot

So I've been reading a lot this past few. I finished like 7 books so far (and counting) Heh.

But so far, this book stood out the most. As with books that usually impress me, it has a very "untypical storyline". Melancholy is intricately weaved into this beautiful plot, and ends off on a note with an stinging heartfelt sadness

You make me crazier, crazier

Recently I've been missing somebody. Someone, for the past few months, I considered a good friend. Up until now. But the world came crashing down on me as really hit me - I meant nothing.

Ancient Words

I've been reading a lot of books recently...not these ones of course, but rather modern paperbacks about girls like myself, living the life I would wish to have, the life that they say (rather aptly too) that only exists in storybooks.

But I just think it'll be amazing to hold these books in your. There's just something magical about touching something so fragile yet valuable, don't you think?

Top 10 fashion trends of 2012

Perhaps I wasn't searching hard enough, but I failed to find a satisfactory article on the top 10 fashion trends of the year - so I decided to create my own. I now present to you, in my own opinion, the top 10 trends of 2012

1. Coloured Denim
'Tis was a year when for the first time, stepping out of the house in hot pink jeans wasn't considered crazy. Many also donned firetruck red, orange and yellow jeans, among other colours. Most prominent however, was wine red and mint green jeans.

2. Ombre
Ombre was probably the strongest trend we've seen this year. Making its debut in Summer, ombre was seen on skirts, shorts, sweaters and even on hair! With its grunge-like appeal, this trend will probably stick around for another season or two!

3. Mullet
Also dubbed as the 'high-low' skirt, this trend, which also appeared around summertime, quickly made it's way into many wadrobes. Commonly made out of chiffon, this flirty skirt was also made in less popular cotton and even glitter versions during fall.

4. Peplum

Basically a tank top or a skirt updated with a dramatic ruffle at the hemline, the trend in mention was a classy ad stylish piece that was suitable for the office. This trend was also welcomed by the Malays, who used to to give a modern twist to the traditional Baju Kurung.

5. Shoulder cut-outs
In a rather conservative year for fashion, this trend, created by Italian luxury label Fendi, showed that you can show some skin and still be conservative at the same time.

6. Chiffon

Chiffon, which is rather sheer, was probably THE material of the year. Sexy without going overboard, chiffon was often donnes in the form of collared sleeveless blouses which came in an array of colours and designs.

7. Galaxy Print
Move aside, leopard print! This year, a more refreshing print dominated the scene. With the dreamy swirls of pink and purple admist a dark backdrop, complete with clusters of stars, what's not to love about it? From shirts to shoes to shorts, this was probably the most DIYed project this year.

8. Embellished Collars
Miu Miu took a spin on the classic white oxford shirt and made it into a statement piece. Soon, every high street label were selling similar pieces, creating a frenzy to get these stylish and work-apropriate pieces in a variety of colours and embellishment designs.

9. Studs and Spikes
Studs and spikes were seen on everything this year - tops, shorts, bags, shoes ans even iPhone cases! They added a bit of character to any assemble, and with its fierce-looking aesthetic, wearers warned others they're not to be messed with.

10. Statement necklaces
This year, costume jewellery was taken to a whole new level and statement pieces were incorporated into everyday wear. With designs ranging from tribal prints to the grunge-like studs and spikes, 2012 made dainty trinklets a thing of the past.
